MATERIALI PER UN'ESTETICA DELLE ROVINE
L'ORIZZONTE SCOMPARSO
Fino a pochi anni fa,il profilo della Città della Fortuna si distingueva per la geometria verticale di due giganteschi silos che indirizzavano lo sguardo di chi l'attraversava e quale che fosse la sua direzione di provenienza. Brand (1) della forma urbana paragonabile, sotto altra specie, alla statua della Fortuna di Piazza XX Settembre, ha cessato di marcare, con l'efficacia del simbolo, quell segmento di spazio visivo. Nell'area dove sorgevano, limitrofa alla foce del fiume Metauro, alla quale si congiungeva il piccolo arcipelago di laghetti artificiali (2), solo rovine e resti inerti di un passato che segnò, dandole origine, la cultura industriale della città. E, com'è nella natura delle cose, il paesaggio - non solo quello, in realtà - muta profondamente col trascorrere del tempo. Per circa quarant'anni (3) si succedettero, col ritmo ciclico della coltura bieticola, le attività industriali dello Zuccherificio che diede occupazione, sia permanente che temporanea, ad ampie fasce di popolazione urbana che, in quel tempo, non aveva certamente migliori alternative. Non è ardito affermare che le competenze tecniche (4) distribuite dal sistema e colte con profitto dal personale più intraprendente e qualificato, abbiano consentito il trasferimento ad altri settori produttivi, la propria capacità di promuovere lo sviluppo economico del territorio. Oggi, il caso più emblematico ad esse ascrivibile è quello del comparto nautico. Una selezione di immagini a colori, prese con il senno della ricerca antropo-visuale tra l'anno 2000 ed il 2006 racconta, sia pure con accento estetizzante, la trasformazione urbanistica dell’area, prima con la chiusura, poi con la demolizione dello Stabilimento.
Ciò che resta del Complesso che ha formato generazioni di tecnici ed orientato la cultura industriale del territorio non è altro che una piatta distesa di macerie che attende un destino degno di valore.

(4) I settori, dove maggiormente ebbero occasione di manifestarsi le capacità tecniche e manageriali acquisite nel processo di lavorazione industriale della barbabietola, sono quello chimico, meccanico, elettrico ed ecologico.
THE DISAPPEARED HORIZON
Until a few years ago ,the skyline of the City of Fortune was marked by the form of two huge silos that caught the look of a traveller whatever the direction he came in.
Brand (1) of the urban shape , comparable ,in a different sense, to the statue of the Fortune in XX September Square, has now ceased to mark ,with the effectiveness of its symbol , the visual space of the horizon. In the area, near the mouth of the Metauro river , to which a little archipelago of artificial ponds (2)were connected, stood only ruins and useless remains of a past that marked the origin of the industrial development of the town.
And , following the rule of nature , the landscape ,but not only , changes deeply in the course of the rime.
For about forty years (3) followed , with the cyclic rhythm of the sugar beet crops, the industrial activities of the Zuccherificio (Sugar Factory) which would give both permanent and temporary employment to a wide number of classes of the urban population, that ,in those times ,for certain, had no better perspectives. Undoubtedly it may be affirmed that the most active and qualified workers, profiting by the technical abilities(4) offered by the system , were then able to transfer their acquired skills to other productive fields so giving a major start to the economic development of the territory. Today ,the most evident case it may be referred to is the field of the shipbuilding.
A selection of coloured photos, taken between 200 and 2006 with the intent of a anthropo-visual research, though with an aesthetically- stressed accent, narrates the urbanized transformation of the area, first with the closing of the plant, then with the demolition of the factory. What remains of the Complex that formed generations of technicians and oriented the industrial culture of the territory is but a flat extent of ruins that awaits a better destiny, deserving worth.
